So, what happened here was that Alaryc (silver hair in the back) wanted to pull a prank on Zephyrus (guy at the front) by dropping the sleeping Lord Obdopple (Jessica's fluffy character) on him when he walked underneath. Thing is, Obdopple's huge, so he needed help from Leere (Jessica's dark-haired character at the back). "He's an elemental, but you're an elemental spirit. Wind's your thing, man." Success; high-five.
Zephyr and Obdopple are supposed to have white hair/fur, but i wanted it to be clear they were in the shade. *shrug* Thanks for looking!
I love how you shaded the characters but I agree about the grass. I think the most prominent problem is that it is shaded the same way on the whole surface and the colours are a little random. I don't think it's necessary to paint each blade separately, it should be enough to leave most of the ground shaded but generally flat and only draw a few grass bushes here and there. Especially where the characters touch it. You didn't have to paint each hair on the fur and it still looks great
Thanks I'm not sure what you mean by "shaded the same way on the whole surface" but alright. The image took me near four days to complete, and in my imagination the grass was as intricate as it appears. Yeah, it probably would have looked fine to make it simple (probably would have taken less time too), but it was part of my plan to make the background intricate and the characters simple. I had the grass brush. It was either use that or turn it into a week-long project. I don't have time for that. Even then it took much time to make each blade stand up at the edges, possibly hours.
By "shaded the same way on the whole surface" I meant it doesn't really have depth as the are no shadows (well apart from the two cast by those two in the back).
The image is good overall, though it would've been worth it to do the grass manually 'cause the Brush is so obvious, even if you had to do each blade individually - it would've looked better.
